Scheduling Material Constraints
Previous Topic  Next Topic

To run a schedule with material constraints, the schedule options for material constraints needs to be set on the Options tab of the Scheduler.  The following options are available:

  1. Apply Material Constraints.  This option sets the default on whether or not to apply material constraints to each schedule run.
  2. The level to apply the material constraints is selected.  The level can either be the job level, the operation level, or the material details level.
  3. The option to use the days to delay is selected.  You can either select not to use the days to delay, use the job days to delay, or to use the operation days to delay.  Note that if you are scheduling to the material details level, the days to delay setting does not have any affect on the scheduler as the material details level uses the material expected delivery date.
  4. You can select one or more material settings for the scheduler to consider when looking at material constraints.  These are:
    1. Use material available flag
    2. Use material expected date
    3. Use material received date

The above three settings are applied in the order listed above.  That is, if all three are selected, the scheduler first looks to see if the material available flag is checked.  If it is checked, no further action is taken.  If it is not checked, the scheduler then looks at the received date.  If the received date has a date, the date is compared to the start date of the job/operation to see if the job/operation needs to be delayed.  If the received date is blank, the scheduler then looks at the expected delivery date.  If the expected delivery date has a date, the date is compared to the start date of the job/operation to see if the job/operation needs to be delayed.

The example below shows the Scheduler with the Options tab displayed.  In this example the material constraints will be applied as default for each schedule run.  The Material Level will be used and the material available flag, material date received, and the material expected date of the material level are used as the constraint.
