Create a new assembly from an assembly template

To create an assembly from an assembly template, perform the following steps:


  1. Make sure that the check box “Create new or edit Assembly Template” is unchecked. 
  2. Click on the button “Create from Template” or drag an assembly template from the template tree to the empty assembly tree.  The following window will appear.  Note that the appearance of the window will depend on the options selected in Terms and Settings:

  1. If you dragged and dropped an assembly template on the assembly tree, the prompt “Assembly Template” will be populated with the name of the assembly template.  Otherwise, enter the assembly template name.
  2. Enter the new name of the assembly.  This name must be unique and may be the same name as the final component order number.
  3. Enter the new order number that will be the final component for the new assembly.  The order number entered must not exist as it will be created by DMS using the assembly template.
  4. Enter the remaining information for the job as required.
  5. When all the information for the assembly has been entered, press the Save button.  Each new component job will be created and then the assembly linking the new components jobs together will be created.  The creation process may take a few minutes depending on the size of the assembly as each job component and its operation, user fields, etc., must be created.  The status bar at the bottom of the Mfg Order form is used to indicate to you the progress of the addition.  During the creation, the following window appears in the assembly grid:



  1. After the new assembly has been added, the assembly appears in the assembly grid enabling you to make any adjusted that may be required for this order.
