Material Options

Material options are used to setup how you want to use material requirements in DMS.  It is selected from the Tables Menu. 


To set the Material options, select Tables menu and then select Material Options.  The example below shows the Material Options:

Material User Fields are defined on the User Fields tab in Material Options.  Up to five text fields can be defined and up to five numeric fields can be defined.  In the material edits and displays, the text user fields and numeric user fields defined will be displayed.  Prompts for both text and numeric user fields can be up to 25 characters long.  The text user field entries can be up to 45 characters long.  Numeric user fields can have up to 18 digits including four decimal places (i.e. 99,999,999,999,999.9999).


The example screen below shows the User Fields tab in Material options:



To add a Material User Field:


  1. In Material options, select the User Field tab.
  2. Select text field Select the check box for the text user field you want to define.
  3. Prompt Enter the prompt for the text user field that you want to display on the screen.  Prompts can be up to 25 characters long.
  4. Repeat step 2 and 3 for all the text material user fields you wish to define.
  5. Select num field  Select the check box for the numeric user field you want to define.
  6. Prompt Enter the prompt for the numeric user field that you want to display on the screen.  Prompts can be up to 25 characters long.
  7. # decimals Select the number of decimal places (from 0 to 4) you want to use for the numeric user field.
  8. Repeat step 5 through 7 for all the numeric material user fields you wish to define.
  9. Click Save & Exit to save all material user fields and material options entered.  Click Cancel & Exit to ignore all material user fields and material options entered.


In the example below, three text user fields and one numeric user field with 2 decimals (i.e. a format of $ 1234.50) have been added:
