Maximum Number of Resources
Previous Topic  Next Topic

When the number of resources required to perform an operation can be variable you can set minimum and maximum (Min/Max) values and let the DMS scheduler select the number of resources to be used based on resource availability. For example, suppose in order to perform a Welding operation you need a minimum of 1 person but you may be able to put as many as 3 people on the job in order to reduce the operation flow time. In this example your Maximum resource value would be 3. Note: The operation runtime would be put in the “Min/Max Runtime” column and the scheduler disperses the time accordingly between the total number of resources used.

The number of resources to be assigned by the scheduler is based on the quantity required for the operation using a runtime method of either time per piece or parts per hour for the type of job Production.  The Min/Max command for Fabrication type of jobs and a runtime method of hours, or for a operation quantity to build of 1 will default to one resource regardless of the min/max resource setting as the quantity to be built by the operation cannot be divided.
