Replace/Update Resource

 

The Replace/Update Resource command enables you to replace one resource with another resource and/or update the setup time and runtime for all selected operations.  The Replace/Update Resource command is very powerful and fast, and once executed it cannot be undone.  Caution should be exercised when using the Replace command. 

 

The Replace/Update Resource command is selected from the Resource window or from the Mfg Orders Job Grid window by selecting File | Replace/Update.  The following window appears:

 

 

If the Mfg Orders Job Grid is running, the user can select the job search selections made in Mfg Orders Job Grid when Replace/Update Resource is executed by selecting the checkbox “Use Mfg Orders Job Grid search”.  If Mfg Orders Job Grid is not running or is not selected, then all operations that are not completed or in history will be updated.

 

To a replace one resource with another resource and/or to update he setup time and runtime, perform the following steps:

1.Resource to replace  Enter the name of the resource you want to replace/update.

2.Replace with resource  The Replace with Resource prompt is automatically populated with the name of the resource you want to replace.  Enter a new resource name to use or leave the resource name as is if only the setup time and runtime are to be updated.  Note that entering a blank name to the Replace with Resource prompt will set the Resource names in the selected operations to blank.

3.Replace Setup Time with  The Setup Time can be updated for the Resource by selecting the check box.  Either hours or a percentage change can be entered.  If a percentage has been entered, the current operation's setup is multiple by the precent entered.  For example, if the setup time is currently 5 hours and 75% is entered as the percentage change, the new setup time for the operations that use the resource will be 3.75 hours.

4.Replace Runtime with  The runtime can be updated for the Resource by selecting the checkbox.  Either hours or a percentage change can be entered.  If a percentage has been entered, the current operation's runtime is multiple by the precent entered.  For example, if the runtime is current 2 hours and 50% is entered as the percentage change, the new runtime for the operations that use the resource will be 1 hour.

5.Select the OK button to execute the Replace/Update Resource.  DMS confirms the change with a confirmation window listing the changes to take place, for example:



Click Yes to update the operations with the changes or click No to not perform the change.
