The Material Per Piece is used to set the total material quantity required for the job.  If selected (the default) the Material Qty Required is multiplied by the Quantity to Build for the job.  If not selected, the material quantity required is not multiplied by the quantity to build; the material quantity given is the total amount required for the job regardless of the job's quantity to build.
