Operation Statuses
Previous Topic  Next Topic

The operation status is used to determine the current state of an operation as either no work performed (blank status), in a resource's queue, in process, or completed.  You may set up your own operation status terms for the standard operation statuses.  Before a operation status can be used, the operation status must be defined.  Once a operation status has been defined and is used by DMS, it cannot be deleted unless the operations using the operation status are assigned to another operation status.  Instead of deleting an operation status you can make it unavailable for use by unselecting the Available check box.

The standard operation statuses are:

  1. Blank status: No work has been performed on the operation
  2. Hold:  If an operation status is set to Hold, the job status is set to whatever has been specified in the Manufacturing Order Options.
  3. Queued for work: Typically used as a signal from the shop floor
  4. In Process: If a job is in process and the option to load in process work first is activated as a schedule option, in process work will be scheduled as the top priority.
  5. Completed: No more time will be scheduled for an operation once it has been completed, regardless of time or quantity that may be remaining.

When defining your own operation statuses, you assign your operation status to one of the above standard statuses.
