Type of Resource
Previous Topic  Next Topic

The type of resource helps you visually identify what a resource is with the exception of the Prepare.  The Prepare type of resource has a special meaning to the scheduler as defined below.  Using Resource Types you can rename a type of resource as well as color code each type of resource.

The following symbols are used for the type of resource:

Resource, typically a machine or groups of machines or a work center

       Labor, employees

Break The BREAK command is used to add time between operations in a job based on the break's profile.

Prepare where the scheduler will measure back from the start of the next operation to determine the start of the prepare resource.  Examples of a prepare would me material preparation, the software preparation for an NC machine, etc.

       Outsource

       Tooling or inventory

Wait.  Only one resource can be identified as a Wait time resource.  When a new dataset is created, the wait resource name is "DMS Wait".  You can change the resource name to any valid name you wish.

Move.  Only one resource can be identified as a Move time resource.  When a new dataset is created, the move resource name is "DMS Move".  You can change the resource name to any valid name you wish.

Note that with the exception of the Prepare, Wait, and Move resource types, the scheduler treats the Resource, Break, Labor, and Outsource resources the same way.  How the scheduler loads these resources is dependent on how a resource is defined by the Resource Profiles tab.
