Job Updating is accessed through the many of the DMS windows under the Manufacturing menu | Job Updating.
If you select Job Updating from the the Manufacturing Orders Job Grid only those jobs that are in the Job Grid will appear in Job Updating tree. This allows you to filter out only the jobs you want to display in the updating area. For example, you may only want to show jobs that are scheduled to run for the week, enabling you to reduce the volume of orders you view in the job tree. The job that you have highlighted in Manufacturing Orders Job Grid is the order that will be defaulted in the update module.
In the example below, job MO-00051 was highlighted in the Manufacturing Orders Job Grid when the Job Updating was selected. Therefore this job is the default job displayed for updating. The example below shows all job updating prompts that can be displayed. You can select the prompts for Job Updating and other updating options through Options | Job Updating Options or from the DMS Monthly Calendar Menu Options | Job Updating Options.
You can select a job by either double clicking in the job tree, typing in the order number in the “Order number” prompt, or by using the pull down option in the “Order number” prompt.
The type of job (either production or fabrication) affects how a job is updated.

6.Type of Work You can optionally report on what “Type of Work” the work was completed under. For example, if an overtime profile was used it may be important for you to collect this information for costing purposes.
7.Setup Time This prompt is used to capture the set up time in hours applied to the operation. Setup time is a cumulative field. For example, if 2 hours were reported yesterday and an additional hour was spent today, the value entered for today’s transaction should be 1.
8.Runtime This prompt is used to capture the runtime in hours applied to the operation. Runtime is a cumulative field. For example, if 6 hours were reported yesterday and 4 hours were spent today, the value entered for today’s transaction should be 4.
9.Qty Completed Captures how much quantity has been completed for this transaction. Qty completed is a cumulative field where each new entry is added to the total completed for the operation.

11.Percent Complete Is used to give a percent complete for the operation. The transaction will simply be recorded if “Recalculate planned time” is not checked. However, if “Recalculate planned time” is checked, DMS will take the cumulative actual time to date reported against the operation and the percent complete reported for the current transaction and then recalculate planned time.
12.Recalculate Plan Time If percent complete is being used and reported, this option to impose or not impose a recalculation of runtime for when Percent Complete is reported.
13.Operation Status Available statuses are:
1.Blank (space) for no status to report.
2.Queued for work: Typically used as a signal from the shop floor.
3.In Process: If a job is in process and the option to load in process work first is activated as a schedule option, in process work will be scheduled as the top priority.
4.Completed: No more time will be scheduled for an operation once it has been completed, regardless of time or quantity that may be remaining.
5.Backflush Status If a backflush status is entered, the Backflush Operations will take place by setting all previous operations to the updated operation to the entered backflush status.
14.Status Reason An optional status reason can be given.
15.Notes You can optionally post notes to your transactions giving more detail on work performed.
16.Work Performed By The work performed by prompt may appear before the order number or may appear at the end depending on the Job Updating Options selected. The example above shows the Job Status Updating screen when one employee has been selected for entry.
