Inventory is used for Material Requirements, specifically the Material Details Level. Material can be entered manually or loaded via a text file using Import Inventory. Before an inventory item can be used, the inventory item must be defined. Once an inventory item has been defined and is used by DMS, it cannot be deleted unless the operations using the inventory item are reassigned. Instead of deleting an inventory item, you can make it unavailable for use by unselecting the Available checkbox.
When you select Tables | Inventories the following window appears, listing the current inventory items:
The following tabs and commands are available:

1.New To add a new inventory item, select File | New.
2.Edit To edit an existing inventory item, highlight the inventory item in the grid and select File | Edit or double click on inventory item in the grid.
3.Delete To delete an existing inventory item, highlight the inventory item in the grid and select File | Delete or click on the delete icon . DMS will confirm the delete. Click OK to delete the inventory item, or click Cancel to cancel the delete.

2.Item No The Item No. must be entered.
3.Alternate Item No The alternate item no. is an optional field and may or may not be a valid inventory item no. to enable free format entry.
4.Qty on Hand Qty on hand is optional and can be used to build a supply versus demand report.
5.Notes Optional notes on the inventory item
If a new inventory item is being entered, you can click on the Save & New button to save the entry and keep this screen open to add another new inventory item. Otherwise, click the Save & Exit button to save the entries or click Cancel & Exit to cancel the entries.
