Runs With Jobs Window

Runs With Jobs are two or more jobs with the exact same routings that are scheduled together (called a Runs With Job Group).  The scheduler totals the quantity for the Runs With Job Group and schedules the group based on the selected parent job.  When the parent job has been completed, the entire Runs With Job Group will be completed.

The example window below shows three Runs With Jobs where the parent job is the first job in the list.  The Parent job is identified with a and the Runs With job(s) are identified with a :

Note that only one Runs With Job group may be displayed in the Runs With Job window at a time.  If two Runs With Job groups are selected to be displayed, only the first group will be displayed.

Runs With Jobs can be set by the following within DMS:

  1. Mfg Orders Job Grid
  2. Manufacturing Order Job Details
  3. Job Analysis Graph
  4. Job Gantt Chart

To set a group of Runs With jobs, a parent job must be selected and the following routing parameters must match with the parent:

  1. Number of operations must match
  2. Operation Ident
  3. Route command
  4. Route Parameter
  5. Resource
  6. Pool
  7. Min Resources
  8. Max Resources

There are two types of deactivated Runs With Jobs.  The first is “Deactivated” which is a manual deactivation of a job or a Runs With Job group by the user.  The second is “Deactivated by system” that the scheduler will set a Runs With Job to if the routing does not match with the parent.

During a schedule run if the scheduler detects that one or more Runs With Jobs in the group do not match, the scheduler will set the mismatched Runs With Job to "Deactivated by system", print a warning message to the schedule status file and will schedule this job separately from the Runs With Job group.  Once you have fixed the mismatched Runs With Jobs routing to match the parent, you can select to Activate the Runs With Job by either a left click on the mismatched Runs With Job and select Activate or select the Active Group button to activate all Runs With Jobs in the group.  A job deactivated by the system is identified with a in the Runs With Job grid.

The option to deactivate one or more Runs With Job manually is also available.  You can select one job to deactivate by a right click on job in Runs With Job grid and select Deactivate.  To deactivate the entire Runs With Job group, click on the Deactivate Group button on the Runs With Job window.  The same procedure can be performed to activate one job or activate the entire Runs With Job group.  A job deactivated by the user is identified with a in the Runs With Job grid.

If you deactivate a parent job in a Runs With Job group, the entire Runs With Job group is deactivated.
